Dear Girl Scouts San Diego Community,
What an incredible summer it was—one filled with fun, adventure, and unforgettable memories for our Girl Scouts, volunteers, and families!
From day camps at Balboa Campus and the Escondido Program Center to sleepaway adventures at Whispering Oaks and Winacka in Julian, more than 1,900 campers discovered the transformative power of Girl Scout Camp this summer. Thank you to our 150 seasonal staff and volunteers whose leadership, talents, and passion made these experiences unforgettable.
In August, 400 adults filled our Balboa Campus with excitement and energy at the annual Volunteer Conference, where they gained new skills—and friends! Thank you to everyone who shared their expertise by leading workshops, and to our community partners and sponsor, Mission Fed Credit Union, who brought the exhibitor fair to life. See photos from the day on our Flickr page.
Last month, we celebrated joy and impact at Urban Campout: Defying Gravity, where together, we raised more than $450,000—funds that help ensure every girl has the opportunity to become a Girl Scout of courage, confidence, and character. The evening was inspiring and filled with so much connection and laughter! My heartfelt thanks to our co-chairs, Kathy Drucquer Duff and George Duff, and to our lead sponsors—Katie and Dan Sullivan Foundation, Mission Fed Credit Union, Sharp Health Plan, and U.S. Bank—for helping make the event so memorable. Visit sdgirlscouts.org/urbancampout to learn more and see photos.
We also held a September town hall meeting to share and discuss the transformational change we are embarking on this year. Thank you to those who are engaging with our team to help create and develop these new models. Read this edition of Connections to view the recording, and please continue to reach out with your questions, suggestions, and interest in being part of the creation.
The Fall Product Program is happening now! Through Wednesday, Oct. 22, Girl Scouts will rally their friends and families to purchase nuts, chocolates, and magazines that can help fund year-round troop programming. Stay tuned: the next Girl Scout Cookie Program begins on Sunday, Jan. 25 with the debut of our newest delicious cookie—Exploremores! 🍪
Yesterday, we officially launched the 2026 membership year, and we cannot do this without your support. Thank you for spreading the word and encouraging adults and girls to join! Learn more at sdgirlscouts.org/join.
We also launched the much anticipated Emerging Leader Girl Scout applications. On Monday, Oct. 6, we’ll open nominations for the Cool Women class of 2026. Spread the word!
It is already shaping up to be an incredible year of growth, leadership, and opportunity. I invite you to check out our upcoming programs and see how you can get involved. Thank you for being a part of this important mission and community.
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Carol
