STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) is one of the four areas that form the foundation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Variations on STEM (STEAM with arts, STREAM with reading, STEEM with entrepreneurship, etc.) are embraced throughout Girl Scout STEM programming.
Whether you're eager to earn a STEM badge, participate in a workshop, or explore exciting career possibilities, this is your gateway to countless STEM adventures! Join us as we explore the endless possibilities of STEM and work to create a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
Despite significant advancements, women remain underrepresented in STEM fields, from the workforce and academic degrees to overall STEM engagement. To bridge this gap, investing in accessible and engaging STEM opportunities for young girls is crucial. Girl Scouts, a leader in this arena for over 100 years, provides hands-on activities designed to connect girls' interests with the real-world applications of STEM. Through dedicated training, mentorship, and immersive experiences, our programs empower girls to grasp the value of STEM within their communities and explore exciting career possibilities in this ever-evolving landscape.
When girls participate in Girl Scout STEM programs, they benefit in four important ways:
The Airborne Insitute, UC, San Diego: It’s all around us. We use it everyday. It’s essential for life. And yet, it’s invisible. Any ideas what ‘it’ is yet?... Air! Refreshing, wonderful, crisp air. But what about when it’s polluted? What do we do when something that is essential to all of life on Earth is threatened? We jump into action! Atmospheric Scientists are at the forefront of investigating and solving the issue of air quality. In this program you will visit with top atmospheric scientists and learn about our current research in Imperial Beach where raw sewage from a broken water treatment plant flows into the ocean, polluting not just the water, but the air too! Join us to learn about air quality and what you can do to be a part of the solution.

Join forces with RARE Science, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps find cures for kids with rare disease. The RARE Bear Project is a community driven initiative and is supported by the ever-growing RARE Bear Army of volunteers that help make one of a kind bears for special one of a kind kids. With close to 3,000 bears gifted in over 38 countries, RARE Science is bridging the divide in the rare disease community by creating awareness and support!
An estimated 250 Million kids have a rare disease. 30% of these children will die before their 5th birthday and 35% will pass before their first birthday. Treatments are difficult to develop for rare diseases because of the scarcity of patients identified, the lack of data needed to better understand, and the cost it takes to find treatments for these diseases. RARE Science is tackling all three of these challenges using a unique methodology to accelerate and decrease time to identify medicines for rare diseases affecting kids.
RARE Bear Program
Our RARE Bear Program offers a unique opportunity for the community to become engaged in supporting children and their families who are trying to find help and treatment. Creating a RARE Bear for a rare child is a rewarding and selfless act that in turn brings joy and hope to others. Join the RARE Bear Army TODAY!
