The Biggest Girl Scout Adventures are Still Ahead

Whether you have a girl in Girl Scouts or are a dedicated volunteer, so much has been accomplished, discovered, and explored over the past year. And there’s even more ahead—more opportunities to try new things and to remain part of something truly special, supportive, and inspiring year after year.

The Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1 to September 30. Annual membership dues* are $65 for girl members and $30 for adult members.

California Assembly Bill 506 (AB 506)

All troop leaders and assistant troop leaders must comply with California Assembly Bill 506 (AB 506) before renewing membership. AB 506 requires youth service organizations to develop and implement child abuse prevention policies, including background checks and mandated reporter training.

Troop Leaders: How to Renew Yourself and Your Troop toggle arrow

Note for troop leaders: You must renew yourself before renewing your troop.

1. Log in to your MyGS account.

2. From the "My Troop(s)” tab, select the troop you wish to view. Edit account details as needed, then select your renewals:

For youth, check the boxes for those you want to renew

For adults, check the boxes to renew affiliation with troop AND check the box next to the roles that will be continued.

Seniors in high school or those over 18 years old will renew as adults.

Lifetime members will need to renew their role and check out.

4. Indicate member(s) who are not returning next year by selecting “Not returning,” then save.

5. At the top of the page, select “Add Renewal.” Then, click “Renew” and confirm member details.

7. Move through the process by selecting “Next Participant” until each member is completed. After the last member is completed, select “Save Details.”

6. Select “Membership Year and Payment Option” then follow the prompts to complete the renewal process.

8. Review the cart, enter payment details, and submit your payment to complete the transaction.

9. On the payment confirmation screen, print a receipt to save a copy for your financial records. You will not be able to reprint a receipt after this page.

Caregivers: How to Renew Yourself and Your Youth toggle arrow

1. Log in to your MyGS account.

2. On the “My Household” tab, confirm the information for each person you are renewing. Update the school information for your youth member(s).

3. To renew family members, click the “Membership” checkbox for each member then select “Add Renewal.”

Select both the membership and the role for any adult volunteers.

4. Choose the membership year “Next Year–2026" for $65 youth, $30 adult

5. Move through the process by selecting “Next Participant” until each member is completed. After the last member is completed, select “Save Details.”

6. Review the cart, enter payment details, and submit your payment to complete the transaction.

7. When the membership status updates to ‘Active,’ your youth has secured another year of Girl Scouting!

8. On the payment confirmation screen, print a receipt to save a copy for your financial records. You will not be able to reprint a receipt after this page.

Lifetime Members toggle arrow

Lifetime members need to renew role(s) annually. Log into MyGS and follow the steps to renew your role(s).

Renewal Tips and Troubleshooting toggle arrow

Clear your browser cache before beginning the renewal process.
Use Google Chrome or Firefox as your browser for the best experience.
An expired background check will prevent you from renewing into your role. If you have any questions about the background screening process, contact customercare@sdgirlscouts.org or 619-610-0821.
After confirming member details, if the caregiver contact information was “lost,” do not click the “I am the caregiver” box. Instead, remove that participant, then finish renewing any youth already in the cart.

FAQs

Who can renew members in my troop?

Troop leaders, assistant leaders, or youths' caregivers can renew membership. If you are having issues trouble renewing memberships, please reach out to customercare@sdgirlscouts.org or join our office hours (see dates and times below).

What is the volunteer 10+ years lifetime membership?

Volunteers who have completed more than 10 years of service are eligible for the lifetime member discount of $200. This includes volunteer service in more than one position and/or more than one Girl Scout council.

What is the cost of the Young Alum Lifetime Membership?

The Young Alum Lifetime Membership is $200 and is available for those currently aged 18-29 or who have bridged to adult members and were a member as a girl.

How does financial assistance work during membership renewal?

Financial assistance is available for membership renewal, and anyone can apply through the MyGS membership portal during the renewal process. Financial assistance is limited, and priority is given to first-time members. We strongly encourage all troops to develop a self-sustaining budget—with funds from cookie program proceeds and other approved money-earning activities—to support membership renewal and ongoing programming.

The financial assistance review process can take up to seven business days. Please reach out to customercare@sdgirlscouts.org to follow up on or inquire about a financial assistance application.

How do Individually Registered Members (IRMs) renew?

Follow the instructions to renew online via myGS. Individually Registered Youth Members can also renew membership using cookie bucks by bringing them into a Girl Scouts San Diego retail location. Find hours and locations at sdgirlscouts.org/store.

Adults of IRMs cannot use cookie bucks for membership dues and should renew online using myGS.

Membership Dues Adjustment*

In October 2024, more than 800 delegates from across the country convened virtually to discuss, debate, and decide on our collective path forward at the Special 57th National Council Session.

Our National Council engaged in robust and constructive debate regarding two proposals to increase annual dues for girl and adult members, delegates ultimately voted to raise girl membership dues to $65, which will be phased in over the next two years.

Girl membership dues will be $45 for Membership Year (MY) 2026 and $65 for MY 2027. Adult dues are $30, effective MY 2026.

This investment provides the opportunity to implement initiatives that will have a lasting impact on the Girl Scouts, volunteers, and families we serve. Financial assistance is available.

Why isn’t my username working?

Your username is your email address. If you have more than one email address, try each. You can also use the “Forgot Your Password?” link to send a reset email to your email address. If you’re still having trouble, contact our Customer Care team.

Why am I not receiving the password reset emails?

The password reset emails come from gsusacustomercare@girlscouts.org, so please make sure it’s added to your safe senders list. If you requested the reset email before marking our email address as safe, check your spam folder. If you’re still not receiving the email, contact our Customer Care team to verify that your username/email address is correct.

How do I reset my password when I no longer have access to the email address associated with my account?

Our Customer Care team can easily change your username/email address without requiring you to recreate your account. Contact us to get started.

Why can’t I see my family when I log in?

There are a couple reasons this could happen:

Another adult family member may be listed as the preferred contact on the account. That person must log in to renew. Contact our Customer Care team if you’d like to be listed as your household’s preferred contact.

You may have a second or duplicate account with a different email address. Try a different username. If that works, be sure to contact our Customer Care team to merge the two accounts into one.

Why can’t I see my troop(s) when I log in?

There are several reasons this could happen:

Troops are listed on a separate tab from your family. If you have more than one troop, look for the pull-down menu to change between them.

Check your member profile to make sure you’re listed as a volunteer in the troop.

Not all troop volunteers can access the troop tab, only Troop Leaders and Assistant Leaders have access.

If your background check has expired or you are not in compliance with CA AB506, you may lose access until it is up-to-date and you are in compliance. Details on CA AB506 can be found on our website here.

*The Girl Scout membership year is October 1–September 30 and must be renewed annually.
