Dear Girl Scouts San Diego Community –
On behalf of the girls, families, volunteers, staff, and board of Girl Scouts San Diego, I want to send heartfelt support to our sister council, Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles (GSGLA), and all the Girl Scout families affected by the devastating fires in Los Angeles. We stand with them during this challenging time, using our Girl Scout spirit of sisterhood as a source of strength.
Please visit the GSGLA resource page to learn more about the fires’ impact, what GSGLA is doing in response, and how you can help. I also invite you to show your support by sending a letter or card to those who have been impacted.
As we embark on a new year, I am reminded of the enduring legacy that Girl Scouting creates. From troop 5912’s heartfelt Daisy ceremony to welcome new members, to the compassion displayed through holiday service projects, to teen leaders showing a remarkable ability to effect change in the community, Girl Scouts are making an extraordinary impact. Together, we are building the next generation of compassionate and courageous leaders, thanks to the unwavering support of our incredible volunteers and community.
America’s sweetest, impactful, and most beloved tradition—the Girl Scout Cookie Program—begins on Sunday, Jan. 26 in San Diego and Imperial counties! In case you missed it, check out the 2025 Family Cookie Guide to learn about our new partnership with ABC Bakers, key dates, ways to participate, rewards lineups, and more. Read on to see how we previewed this year’s program with a special visit to the San Diego Zoo.
Also, our Outdoor and Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) Program teams are excitedly planning for adventure weekends and holiday camps, badge workshops, and events that create connections and friendships and help grow skills and confidence. Check out sdgirlscouts.org/events to see what’s on the horizon, and stay tuned for 2025 Girl Scout Summer Camp registration, which opens in February.
Finally, I hope you will join us for the inspiring Cool Women Celebration on Friday, March 14. We selected five remarkable leaders—who will be announced next month—and our largest-ever class of 53 Emerging Leader Girl Scouts to honor at this year’s celebration. Thank you to our fabulous co-chairs, Natasha Bowman and Joyce Gattas, who are helping to spearhead and plan this amazing event.
It is going to be another incredible year! Let us continue to inspire, uplift, and lead with purpose—creating a future where every Girl Scout feels empowered to make a difference.
Happy New Year,
Carol
