During a special weekend in April, our Girl Scout Outreach (GSO) Program hosted the annual Mountain Adventure Weekend for girls attending Title I schools in our community. This weekend was full of firsts for many girls—first experience in the outdoors, first time away from their families, and first time outside the city. This weekend highlights the magic of Girl Scout Camp, where every moment is designed to leave a lasting impression, fostering growth and well-being in girls.
Every girl should be able to experience the transformative power of camp. Give girls the chance to explore, learn, and grow in the great outdoors. Donate at sdgirlscouts.org/campership.
In April, we celebrated National Volunteer Month, appreciating our volunteers across our social channels and with special gifts. While the month has ended, there is still time to recognize a volunteer you admire by nominating them for a GSSD or GSUSA award. Take a moment to nominate a volunteer who has gone above and beyond to make a lasting impact on the lives of our Girl Scouts. Learn more at sdgirlscouts.org/volunteerrecognition. Submit a nomination by Monday, June 2 to spotlight a fantastic volunteer!
In March, more than 300 Girl Scouts of all ages explored Balboa Park during the annual Incredible Race, working together in teams to solve clues and discover challenge stations hosted by local museums and community partners. This year’s event had a wide range of hands-on activities, from checking tire pressure and changing tires to surfing demos, tap dancing, and building wind rovers. Girls tried their hand at hockey with the San Diego Gulls, crafted origami, explored musical instruments with Bach to Rock, tested their coordination with a mosquito bean bag toss, and more. It was a day full of teamwork, exploration, and fun! See photos from the day on our Flickr page.
Special thank you to the collaborative efforts of our community partner organizations: San Diego Air & Space Museum, San Diego Automotive Museum, Girlie Garage, San Diego Gulls Hockey, Tap Fever, San Diego Surf School, San Diego Vector Control, Japanese Friendship Garden, Helen Woodward Animal Center, Living Coast Discovery Center, Bach to Rock, Ringers, San Diego Model Railroad Museum, San Diego History Center, San Diego Archaeological Center, There She Goes, Fleet Science Center, Tree San Diego, and San Diego Girls Rugby.

Thank you to San Diego Union-Tribune for featuring Lifetime Girl Scout Alé Delgado's powerful story. In her piece, "Girl Scouts are about more than selling cookies. It changed my life," Delgado reflects on how growing up as a Girl Scout led her to travel the world, find her voice, break barriers, and discover a global sisterhood.
