Dear Girl Scouts San Diego Community –
As we enter this new year, I am filled with pride as I reflect on 2023 and fueled with excitement for the year ahead.
I am proud of how our Girl Scouts volunteered their time during the holiday season. So many individuals and troops participated in service projects to give back to our community. Thank you to the service-minded adults who are showing these Girl Scouts how to be compassionate leaders.
America’s sweetest and most beloved tradition—the Girl Scout Cookie Program—begins in a few short weeks on Sunday, Jan. 28. Girl Scouts are gearing up to rally their friends, neighbors, and community members to support the world’s largest girl-led entrepreneurial experience. I am excited to witness many of our seasoned and new cookie entrepreneurs taking action this season. Our Outdoor and Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) Program teams are having fun planning for adventure weekends, holiday camps, badge workshops, and events that teach new skills, create connections and friendships, and help grow confidence. Check out sdgirlscouts.org/events to see what’s on the horizon, and stay tuned for 2024 Girl Scout Summer Camp registration, which opens on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m.
GSSD is grateful to be a part of the Balboa Park community, where we host many of our events, meetings, camps, and programs throughout the year. The City of San Diego is gathering feedback from visitors of Balboa Park to identify strategic priorities for future investment and inform decision-making. As stakeholders in Balboa Park, it is important that our Girl Scout community provides input. Make your voice heard by completing this survey before Sunday, Jan. 28, and read the latest issue of the Connections newsletter to learn more about upcoming public engagement sessions.
I hope you will join us for the inspiring Cool Women Celebration on Thursday, March 21. We selected five remarkable leaders—who will be announced next month—and our largest-ever class of 50 Emerging Leader Girl Scouts to honor at this year’s celebration. Thank you to our fabulous co-chairs, Barbara Bry and Divya Kakaiya, who are helping to spearhead and plan this amazing event.
It is going to be another fantastic year for Girl Scouts San Diego! Thank you for supporting our important mission with your time, talents, and contributions.
