Dear Girl Scouts San Diego Community,
Spring signifies a season of renewal and growth in nature and within the Girl Scout community. Our spring membership campaign is in full swing, and it’s exciting to see so many girls, families, and adult volunteers eager to embark on another year of fun, learning, and leadership through Girl Scouting. Whether you are joining us for the first time or continuing your Girl Scout journey, we are grateful that you are a part of our vibrant community. Learn more, register, or renew at sdgirlscouts.org/join.
In March, we celebrated five outstanding Cool Women honorees and 50 Emerging Leader Girl Scouts at the 2024 Cool Women Celebration. Read a recap of this inspiring event on our blog.
April was Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we highlighted our more than 9,000 incredible volunteers across our social channels. We also believe in spotlighting their profound impact all year long! Recognize a volunteer you admire by nominating them for a GSSD or GSUSA award, open now through Monday, June 3.
This season, girls in K-12 are anticipating the joy and adventure of Girl Scout summer camp. These experiences go beyond just fun in the great outdoors; they are where girls learn to navigate challenges, embrace nature, and make their new best friends. Register now for day or sleepaway camp at sdgirlscouts.org/camp. Every girl, regardless of their family’s ability to pay, should be able to participate in this transformational outdoor experience. Donate today to support our campership financial aid fund at sdgirlscouts.org/campership.
In the coming months, we look forward to honoring our Girl Scouts who have achieved their highest awards at our Silver and Gold Award ceremonies. Driven by a commitment to service and making the world a better place, these Girl Scouts took the lead and made their mark in the areas of environmental sustainability, mental health awareness, disability access, civic engagement, STEM, and more.
Finally, during this Mental Health Awareness month and as we navigate life’s challenges and opportunities, I encourage each of you to remember our Girl Scout Law and to be kind to yourself and others. In a world that is constantly moving, it is important to pause, reflect, and care for our well-being and the well-being of those around us.
Thank you for being a part of our Girl Scout family and for making this movement so special.
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Carol
