Juniors and Cadettes Discover Careers in Cyber Security

With the FBI reporting a 300% increase in cybercrimes since the pandemic began—many aimed at children and families—it is more critical than ever to learn about cybersecurity and online safety. Last month, 13 of San Diego’s industry leaders collaborated for a 3-hour interactive workshop for 60 Juniors and Cadettes. Girl Scouts learned tips to stay safe online, discovered exciting career pathways for a future in cybersecurity, and earned three cybersecurity badges: Basics, Safeguards, and Investigator.

“My favorite part was all of it because I love learning about anything related to computers.” - Cadette Girl Scout

“My favorite part was the challenge of pretending to hack into something.” - Junior Girl Scout

Thank you to Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE), Booz Allen Hamilton, and First Citizens Bank for partnering with us for this opportunity!
