Save the date for our annual fall event on Saturday, October 17, from 6-9pm. This hiker party is open for all experienced, brand-new, and future hikers! We welcome Girl Scouts 11 years and older and their adults to meet our hiking and backpacking volunteers for a night of fun, film, and friendship! Attendees will learn about the trips and courses planned for 2027.
Join us for a presentation by Neve Luna, a Kumeyaay descendant & San Diego native who grew up on the San Pasqual Reservation in Valley Center. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon and is currently working part-time at the San Diego Safari Park as a Safari tour guide and part-time at the San Diego Archaeological Center as a Tribal Outreach Coordinator. Being raised on a reservation instilled an identity rooted in Kumeyaay culture, language, and traditional ecological knowledge sparking a love for nature, a fascination with environmental stewardship, and of course, a deep spiritual and cultural connection to this land. Neve is dedicated to preserving the culture of her people while inspiring residents to appreciate San Diego's rich history.
