STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) is one of the
four areas that form the foundation of the Girl
Scout Leadership Experience. Variations on STEM (STEAM with
arts, STREAM with reading, STEEM with entrepreneurship, etc.) are
embraced throughout Girl Scout STEM programming.
Why STEM Matters
When girls participate in Girl Scout STEM programs, they benefit in
four important ways:
- STEM Interest—Girls are excited about STEM subjects and want
to learn more about them.
- STEM Confidence—Girls have
confidence in their STEM skills and abilities.
Competence—Girls think scientifically to solve problems.
- STEM Value—Girls learn the importance and relevance of STEM to
people and society.

STEM Badges and Journeys
Girl Scout badges are a great way for a girl to explore
her interests and learn new skills—and to remember every adventure and
show the world what she’s accomplished. Get all the latest details and
shop links for every topic and grade level in the Badge Explorer.
As you go on your Journey, the awards on your uniform will let others
know about the awesome things you’ve done—and remind you of what you
accomplished and the fun you had along the way.
