Dear Girl Scouts San Diego Volunteers,
In October 2024, we announced a change to our troop banking, moving from Wells Fargo (WF) to Mission Fed Credit Union (MFCU) in San Diego County.
If you have not yet transitioned your troop or service unit bank account to MFCU, now is the time. Make the transition by Tuesday, Sept. 30 to ensure your bank accounts are clear and ready for the Girl Scout Fall Product Program and new membership year.
Since MFCU does not have branches in Imperial Valley, we are working with an alternative institution and are still confirming details. Imperial Valley members should expect an update via direct communication soon.
With an evolutionary mindset (one of Girl Scouts San Diego’s core values) at the forefront and in partnership with volunteers who provided input and perspective, we evaluated our previous financial institution, WF, and determined that changes were needed.
A shift within WF moved Girl Scout accounts to the business services side of their organization, which impacts how accounts are opened and managed. Additionally, WF instituted a fee structure on troop and service unit accounts that are opened or changed after Sept. 24, 2024.
GSSD is committed to working with financial institutions that will not charge troops and service units to secure their girl-earned funds. To best support our Girl Scouts, we transitioned to Mission Fed Credit Union (MFCU) as our preferred financial institution in San Diego County.
Accounts with MFCU are no-fee checking accounts and come with 20 free temporary checks, two free cashier’s checks per month (as needed), debit cards, and exceptional service.
Since 2016, Mission Fed Credit Union has been a trusted GSSD community partner, offering entrepreneurial programs like Money Madness, supporting our signature events and programs with sponsorship revenue, providing discounted account rates and promotions for our staff and members, and more.
This transition was deliberately phased beginning in fall 2024 to:
prioritize accounts that would be charged fees from WF if they weren’t transitioned quickly, and secure accounts for all new troops and those participating in the 2024 fall product program (phase 1);
set up accounts for troops participating in the 2025 cookie program who needed a change of signer (phases 2 and 3);
transition service unit accounts (phase 4);
transition everyone else in San Diego County to MFCU (current phase).
Since Tuesday, April 1, 2025, all San Diego County troops have been eligible to transition to MFCU.
Follow the steps below to transition by Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025.
Submit your closing WF bank statement and your initial MFCU bank statement using this form as soon as possible.

Yours in Girl Scouting,
