Ever wondered how camp ceremonies are really run and how to confidently bring those traditions to your troop campout?

This highly interactive, hands-on training is designed for adult Girl Scout volunteers who want to experience camp traditions the way Girl Scouts do and then learn how to successfully lead them in an outdoor setting. Participants will actively take part in several traditional ceremonies and then discuss the purpose, structure, and practical tips for implementing them with their troops.

During the session, you'll learn how ceremonies help create meaningful moments at camp, build community, and reinforce Girl Scout values. You'll walk away with the knowledge, confidence, and simple tools needed to plan and facilitate ceremonies that are respectful, engaging, and age-appropriate.

Ceremonies covered include:

  • Flag Up/Flag Down - honoring the flag and starting or closing the day with intention
  • Campfire Ashes Ceremony - celebrating the tradition and spirit of shared campfires
  • Girl Scout's Own - creating reflective moments that center values, gratitude, and connection

By the end of the session, you'll be ready to incorporate these traditions into your troop's outdoor experiences and help girls create lasting camp memories.
