Property Volunteer Projects
The following is a brief list of ongoing Service Projects on properties.
Mountain Properties
- Trail maintenance - remove rocks, prune overgrowth, erosion control, etc
- Update Trail Guide
- Repair steps to Morningside
- Repair walkway below Meadow Vista
- Bulletin Board/Information Kiosk
- Replace faucets, showerheads, etc
- Gather seeds and acorns for late fall and spring planting (Daisy/Brownie)
- Realign rocks and clean areas around stoves and fire circles and stack firewood - all units
- Clean shower curtains in any unit
- Wash windows in any building
- Rake leaves around any building or program area
- Remove debris leaves/debris from ditches, culvert entrances, and collection boxes
- Inventory and restock chuck boxes and kitchens
- Sweep cobwebs off inside/outside of cabins
- Remove weeds - Spanish Broom, Thistle
- Thoroughly clean dining tables and benches/chairs
- Straighten up and inventory sports equipment at Whispering Oaks

Balboa Campus
- Adopt a Flowerbed
- Landscape maintenance
- Paint cabins during remodel
- Give any cabin or FBH a thorough cleaning
- Wash windows and screens of any cabin, FBH, Leadership Center or HQ building
- Pick up branches, trash or any debris on any level
- Paint picnic tables on any level
- Clean out all BBQs
- Clean out table and chair closets in cabins
- Clean out refrigerators in cabins or FBH
- Clean stove tops and ovens in cabins or FBH
- Clean out fireplaces
- Sweep cobwebs off inside/outside of any building
Escondido Program Center
- Wash all table tops
- Wash chair storage room floor
- Sweep cobwebs off inside/outside of building
- Sand and paint picnic tables and chairs
- Clean cleaning supply and broom storage
- Clean out all BBQs
- Clean refrigerators

Note: Many projects are designed to take between two to four hours. Please have the person in charge contact Marlene Williams at (619) 610-0727. Your requested project will then be scheduled with the site manager so that all tools and materials needed will be ready and waiting for the troop/group. We request a minimum of seven days notice in order to ensure that the project does not conflict with other activities at the property and that we are prepared for the service project to be performed. Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm. Help us make this a year when we all pitch in and assist in making our program centers a better place for everyone to enjoy.
