In July, 26 Girl Scouts climbed aboard the USS Midway Museum for
Operation Wing Scout (OWS) in partnership with Southwest Airlines. They
learned from women in aviation careers about the science behind aviation
technology, explored an aircraft carrier, and jumped into a flight
simulator. Since Operation Wing Scout was launched in 2017, more than
300 Girl Scouts have participated. A recent attendee noted the impact of
learning from female professionals: “When they shared their passion and
excitement for their jobs, it inspired me. My favorite part was learning
about all the different careers you can have [in aviation],” she
continued. “You don’t just have to be pilot.” Thank you to our community
partner organizations who enhance the Girl Scout experience in San Diego
and Imperial counties!
