Celebratory Operation Thin Mint

The 2023 Girl Scout Cookie Program concluded on Sunday, March 12 with more than 9,500 participants marketing over 2.3 million packages of cookies! Every one of those packages helps fund the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in San Diego and Imperial counties. 

As Girl Scouts participate in the cookie program, they develop important life skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. And, they learn about community service. This year, Girl Scouts in the region and their generous cookie customers secured 151,000 donated packages of cookies for our Operation Thin MintSM program, which shares a "taste of home" and "notes to show we care" with military personnel.

Since Operation Thin MintSM began in 2002, we’ve sent over 4 million cookie packages to military veterans and troops overseas. On April 14, we commemorated this impressive milestone at the Operation Thin MintSM Sendoff and Family Festival aboard the USS Midway. We welcomed nearly 1,600 Girl Scout supporters, honored our 73 Elite Entrepreneurs and Top 10 OTM Entrepreneurs, hosted interactive community partner booths, and celebrated with a DJ dance party. The program also included remarks from our inspirational guest speaker, Captain Amy Bauernschmidt, commanding officer of the USS Abraham Lincoln. Check out the photos!
