Outdoor Skills Weekend

It's An Adult Encampment!
Join other adults at Camp Winacka for a weekend of skill-building, making new friends, and rejuvenating. Your weekend getaway includes all meals, beautiful surroundings, and a wide range of activities designed to tickle your funny bone, fi ll your tummy and spark your imagination. This year we kick off the weekend with Girl Scout New Year's Eve Friday night and launch into the 100th Anniversary year.
Outdoor Skills Weekend is an annual tradition that allows you to customize your own adventure. Come alone or bring a buddy, or your troop adults or the whole SU team!
Select your favorite activities from our trainers' diverse lineup of workshops. Or you might want to take a timeout ("Me Time") and count butterfl ies. It's YOUR weekend.
Registration deadline: Friday, September 16
Register
online, by fax or mail. Space is limited! Pre-registration is required.
Cost is $32 (includes meals and lodging).
Confirmation packet will be mailed at least two weeks prior to the event and will include a schedule of sessions, directions, and a suggested packing list.

- AC Roundtable
Sandy Sultz gathers the Activity Consultants for discussion, information, and networking.
- Brownie Outdoor Skills Belt
Gaye Brisson - Make this clever rope belt for your Brownie troop's sample. The belt colorfully displays the girls' mastering of eight different outdoor skills.
- Be Prepared!
Heather & Ryan Fryant - Learn about the traditional basic 10 essentials that are advised for wilderness hiking, their uses and how to teach them to your girls.
- Leave No Trace Skills
Fran Styles – From Daisy to Ambassador, help the girls learn how to care about the environment around them.
- Campfire Program
Cindy Moore - This group will brainstorm and develop the Saturday night campfire program.
- Yummies on a Stick
Fran Styles - Practice dowel & stick cooking methods to boost your skills. Yum!
- Fire Starters
Ryan Fryant - Your group will be making an assortment of fi restarters to take home.
- Flower-pounding
Pam Stubbs - Beat the daylights out of flowers with hammers and make a lovely floral art print on fabric ready to frame.
- Foil Packet Cooking
Pam Stubbs - Girls love cooking their own meals. Learn tips in this hands-on session of foil packet cooking.
- Games to Unite a Troop - and have FUN!
Heather & Ryan Fryant - Learn ways to help an active group focus, a shy group open up, and help facilitate communication.
- Geocaching
Karen Haubrich - Engage in the world-wide treasure hunt that uses GPS units, find caches at Winacka.
- Lashing
Pat Gifford - Use just the clove hitch, square knot, and cane to make a unique 100th Anniversary bamboo structure to stay at camp.
- Pine Needle Basket Weaving
Karen Haubrich - Practice this amazingly beautiful art form that is centuries old.
- Scouts' Own
Cindy Moore - Group will develop a lovely Scout's Own ceremony for Sunday morning.
- Sing Some Songs
The songleaders are at it again, teaching you songs and fi lling the forest with music.
- Tie-dye a Bandana
Gaye Brisson - Cotton bandana is provided, you may bring an additional 100% cotton item. Learn from a real pro and get striking results. Must be finished by laundering at home.
- Winacka Hike
Cindy Moore - Swing along the trail with camp historian and explore the whole camp.
