Thank you to everyone who joined us for the OTM Sendoff and Family
Festival on Saturday, May 14, 2022, which marked 17 years of
partnering with the USS Midway Museum. Girl Scouts San Diego was
thrilled to welcome more than 1,100 attendees aboard one of San
Diego’s most popular visitor attractions!
With an exciting program led by Heather Lake from FOX 5 San Diego
and our very own CEO Carol Dedrich, we honored 59 Elite Entrepreneur
Girl Scouts (those who sold 2,022+ packages) and 10 OTM Superstars.
Girl Scouts San Diego revealed that this year's cookie customers
donated more than 170,000 packages of cookies to deployed US military troops.
Special shout out to Troop 5912, led by Irene Barajas, who held a
color guard presentation by Lila F. (caller), Leilany R. (American
flag), Gioselyn G., Azul R., Emylee N., Belany N., and Citlali G.
Attendees personally thanked military troops for their service by
writing messages of support to accompany the cookies at our “Notes
From Home” booth. All guests had an opportunity to shop the Girl
Scouts Pop-up Store and participate in hands-on activities, hosted by
our community
partners and event sponsors.
An epic sendoff party requires some time to boogie! Girl Scouts and
their families finished the night with a dance party led by DJ
De’Ondre, who kept the party rockin’!
Since 2002, Girl Scouts have participated in collecting cookie
packages for Operation
Thin Mint, a local Girl Scout service project that originated in
San Diego. This year with support from the community, Girl Scouts are
on track to hit an impressive milestone of reaching a cumulative 4
million packages of America's favorite cookies and countless notes of
support to deployed troops serving around the world. At the end of
each cookie season, Girl Scouts come together to celebrate sending off
the cookies to our military service members.
The 2023 Cookie Program and OTM Sendoff & Family Festival will
be Friday, April 14.
