The Cottonwood Lakes are located in the Southeastern Sierra region at the southern end of the John Muir Wilderness. The trailhead is located approximately 24 miles southwest of Lone Pine, CA. It is an alpine basin with many lakes surrounded by high peaks of the Sierra Nevada, including Cirque Peak and Mt. Langley. The trail is well-traveled and maintained. The trailhead is at 10,000 ft and the lakes are at 11,200 ft.
