Low Ropes

The low ropes challenge course at Camp Whispering Oaks in Julian lets girls experience collaboration, cooperation, and a generous dose of team spirit! They’ll come together as they tackle problem solving initiatives, attempt low elements, and cheer on their friends through it all. Certified staff plan and lead each session. Current 2nd graders (Girl Scout Brownies) and older are eligible to participate.

What is the low ropes challenge course?

The course is made up of several distinct elements involving cables, logs, platforms, and other objects. Each low ropes session is tailored to the needs of the group participating; however, all sessions are designed with close attention to progression. The course offers participants the chance to share individual successes and setbacks with a supportive team, building self-esteem and group skills along the way.

Who can participate?

Current 2nd graders (Brownies) and older can participate. Some advanced elements are reserved for 4th grade (Juniors) and up.

If you have a mixed-age group, activities will be tailored to the level of the youngest participants. For example, if a troop has mostly Juniors and one Girl Scout Brownie, they will participate at a level appropriate for the Brownie. Facilitators will not schedule groups for activities that are not age-appropriate for everyone participating.

If anyone in your group requires special accommodations, please contact us. We can work with you to plan the best experience for your entire team.

If you are looking for other teambuilding opportunities for older girls, please see the Adventure Zone or High Ropes pages, or contact teambuilding@sdgirlscouts.org or 619-610-0787 for more opportunities.
