Presenter Bio
When I was a leader in the 80s and 90s, I remember saying–"I should just WORK for Girl Scouts so I can do this all day, every day!" So here I am, in my ninth year as an employee, doing what I love everyday. I was a Girl Scout in high school and was in leadership of both my daughters' troops while working as a single mom. I know for a fact that Girl Scouting was our family's "glue" that not only empowered my girls, but made me a much better parent. My favorite parts of being an employee are the excitement of helping beginners just get started to learn something, the satisfaction of resolving conflicts, and developing new resources for volunteers.

Girls Can Give - and Change the World

You don't have to be Oprah to give your time, talent or treasure as a philanthropist. Girls need to know that they can give back at any age - starting now! Even the youngest Daisy can participate in community service projects. This session is designed to help leaders teach girls of all ages valuable lessons about how to change their world by giving. You'll hear from Freddi Zeiler who at age 14 wrote "A Kid's Guide to Giving." You will gather resources, play games and discover strategies to teach girls the Culture of Youth Philanthropy.

Presenter Bio
At 14, Freddi Zeiler came up with the idea to produce a children's book that provides kids with a "how to" way to give their time, talents and money to their favorite charities. The opportunity was to help kids learn to give to charities and to be able to tap into a kid's natural instinct to help others.

Team - what team?

Is "team" a bad word for you? Do you sometimes wish you could just do it all yourself and not deal with the personalities, dysfunctions, and general nonsense from others? Or are you a team of one by accident? We can help! Join us to learn practical, yet Girl Scout-appropriate, ways to recruit and work with other Girl Scout volunteers. Whether you're a service unit team member or a troop leader (yes, that's a team, too), this interactive discussion is bound to help you enjoy the experience a whole lot more!
