Girl Scout Gold Award

By earning the Girl Scout Gold Award—the highest award a Girl Scout Senior or Girl Scout Ambassador can earn—girls join the ranks of generations of young women who have made a difference in their communities both locally and globally. Girls must be in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and a registered Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador.

During their leadership adventure girls will:

  • Complete two Journeys (Senior or Ambassador) including earning the journey awards, or complete one Senior or Ambassador Journey if they’ve already earned the Silver Award
  • Take the lead as they take action on a community issue they care about
  • Select and recruit a Project Advisor who will offer help and guidance

Suggested minimum hours: 80

Final report deadline: April 1 of the year girls plan to attend the annual council-wide ceremony, or September 30 of the year girls graduate.

Girl Scout Gold Award Steps

  1. Choose an issue: Use values and skills to identify a community issue they care about.
  2. Investigate: Research everything they can about the issue.
  3. Get help: Invite others to support and take action with them.
  4. Create a plan: Create a project plan that achieves sustainable and measurable impact.
  5. Present their plans and get feedback: Sum up your project plan for their Girl Scout council.
  6. Take action: Take the lead to carry out the plan.
  7. Educate and inspire: Share what they have experienced with others
