Giving you the tools to succeed
It's always surprising to see the change in Girl Scouts at the beginning of each membership year. Girls have grown taller, they've developed new interests, and suddenly, a troop of 10 art fanatics has decided to try to survive a weekend in the wilderness!
For new leaders
We offer training on working with girls of each age level. Adults learn about age level-specific developmental characteristics, girl/adult planning, program outcomes, utilizing program resources and developing their leadership potential. All new leaders complete new leader orientation prior to taking age level classes.
For troops interested in getting outdoors
A series of three outdoor training classes begins with Let's Camp, which introduces outdoor basics, including progression and partnering with girls to plan overnight activities. Let's Cook introduces adults to outdoor cooking methods, easy menu planning and working with girls to host memorable camping excursions. The final class, Let's Tent, covers environmental ethics, equipment, and program-specific activities for tent camping weekends. Basic hiking, backpacking and advanced backpacking trainings are also available.
Enrichment classes
Optional enrichment classes to bring new ideas, challenges and experiences to the troop setting are highly recommended. Courses in Girl Scout ceremonies; Bronze, Silver and Gold award basics; event director training; archery; CPR and first aid are also available. Some are customized for certain age levels.
