Run/Walk for a New Day
Saturday, September 26 Liberty Station, Point Loma
Put on your running or walking shoes for the Girl Scouts Run/Walk for a New Day to raise awareness about the importance of a balanced, healthy lifestyle for girls and the adults in their lives. This fun family event urges participants to take their first steps toward a New Day of greater well-being while making positive changes in the lives of girls. Runners and walkers can learn about healthy living topics at the Sharp Health Expo following the race.
Your participation helps fund Girl Scouts' Live Healthy, Lead Healthy (formerly Healthy Girls, Healthy Lives) programs. This year we're also walking with San Diego Police Officers and the supporters of the Ambassador's Foundation's Everyday Heroes program.
New This Year
Hill's Science Diet, PETCO and PETCO Foundation welcome four-legged friends to join the race. To ensure everyone's safety, pets must be leashed at all times.

Technology Goddesses Program WeekendGrades 6-12, Saturday-Sunday October 3-4; Grades 4 & 5, Saturday, October 3
This workshop continues the Technology Goddesses tradition of giving more girls of all ages exposure to skills and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors earn requirements towards one or more related IPs. Girls also use these tools in their Leadership Journey through the twists and turns of aMAZE, finding GIRLtopia or using the Power of Advocacy. They even enjoy an overnight movie in theme with the program. Juniors earn the Math Whiz Badge and enjoy an exciting, hands-on experience.
Registration is first-come, first-served; space is limited. Registration and fees due by Monday, September 14. All participants must consent to photo release.

 Ability Awareness Celebration Balboa Program Center Saturday, October 10
Participants explore diversity to develop heightened awareness, understanding and acceptance of people of all abilities. Interactive activities may include engaging rotations like disability myth-busting quizzes, exploring food allergies, meeting assistance dogs, discovering amazing technologies and talking with athletes who compete with disabilities. Girls will earn the brand new Ability Awareness and Inclusion Patch. Register early, as this popular event fills fast.

Be Your Best Eco Expo Saturday, October 31, 9-11:30 a.m. Balboa Program Center
Join Girl Scouts of every age level learning about recycling and protecting our environment. View demonstrations on environmental themes like recycling, composting, and volunteering. Find out how you can help by participating in the 2009 Girl Scouts Forever Green Community Action Project. Gather recyclables all month long and bring them to the event for collection. Let's make the world a better place and prove just how green Girl Scouts can be!

Camp Adventure Weekends presents... Camp Balboa Sleepover SamplerA special one-night event for first and second grade Brownies Friday-Saturday, December 4-5
Who: First and second grade Brownie troops and the Safety-Wise designated number of troop leaders. Please Note: Safety-Wise ratios followed strictly to allow for the most possible spaces for the girls. One adult must have completed Let's Camp training. Due to limited space this is for first time campers only.
Program: With the guidance of girl planning, participants get a snapshot of resident camp and Adventure Weekends through a variety of arts and crafts, team-building, and camp activities. Girls have a chance to perform a skit or song at the campfire Saturday evening. All participants earn a Camp Adventure Weekend Patch, a coupon toward 2010 resident camp, and a Ready, Set, Go Camping Try-It.
What is provided: Program activities, meals, lodging in modern cabins, resident camp staff, and supplies. Please bring your own first aid kit. All troops share lodging with another troop as part of the program experience and to encourage cooperation skills. Troops provide their own dinner on Friday night. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided Saturday.
Role of the leader: Leaders are an active part of the camp community of adults, supervising their troops, role modeling positive Girl Scout behavior, and enthusiastically supporting the program and the experienced resident camp staff. Leaders are responsible for leading troop time with the girls, where they can catch up with the group, rest and relax, or do a quick project together. Due to sleeping accommodations, female leaders only.
Transportation: Troops provide their own transportation to and from Balboa Program Center located in Balboa Park.
Registration: Mail or fax the completed form as soon as possible to secure a spot. Participants will be selected on a first-come, firstserved basis. The cost of the program is $20 per girl and $15 per adult. Full payment is due at time of registration. Please note any special needs below including food allergies.

More Camp Adventure Weekends...
SHE & ME-2010Camp Whispering Oaks -- February 5-7, 2010 Join the adventure and have the camp experience of a lifetime!
Program: With the guidance of girl planning, participants get a snapshot of resident camp through a variety of arts and crafts, team-building, and kapers (chores). Campers may perform a skit or song at the campfire. Participants earn a camp patch and a discount coupon for 2010 resident camp.
Who: Any registered Girl Scout (ages 7-10) and her registered "Shes" (mom, stepmom, aunt, sister 18+, family friend, etc. "She" may accompany up to two Girl Scouts.
Provided: Program activities, meals, lodging in modern cabins, resident camp staff, and supplies. Participants are divided into three or four groups for activities.
Lodging: Participants will share enclosed, winterized cabins. There are flush toilets and hot water showers available at each group of cabins.
Transportation: Participants provide their own transportation to and from Camp Whispering Oaks, a Girl Scout camp near Julian.
Registration: Mail or fax the form. Due to the popularity of this event, half payment is due with registration. $25 of deposit is non-refundable once confirmed. Participants selected on a first-come, first-served basis (spots fill quickly). Send registration in at any time prior to the balance due date. Cost is $40/girl and $30/adult.
This program is a full weekend commitment; plan to stay Friday and Saturday nights.
