Happy new membership year!
As we embark together on the 2010 Girl Scout membership year, Program News becomes an exclusively electronic publication. While this may take a little getting used to, we are confident you will enjoy the easy-to-read and navigate format, the color photos of girls and volunteers in action, and easy access to additional resources. And eliminating production, printing and mailing costs will help our council maximize natural, human and financial resources.

Taking a new journey
The San Diego-Imperial Council continues to collaborate with Girl Scouts of the USA to provide the highest quality leadership experiences for our girl and adult members. We are proud and excited to introduce this year's new Girl Scout "journey," one in a series of leadership development books encouraging girls to play an active role in planning and decision-making.

The new It's Your Planet – Love It! journey focuses on the environment while promoting healthy living, collaborative learning and an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers. Outdoor adventures, hands-on science investigations and opportunities to learn about women and girls doing important environmental work all help girls explore energy and water conservation, how food network and dietary choices impact on the environment, and more. As they meet the journey's challenges, girls will earn Girl Scouting's new leadership pins and badges. Visit the Be Your Best Eco Expo on Saturday, October 31, to learn more about taking action on behalf of the environment. |
2009-2010 at a glance
The one-page 2009-2010 Program Calendar provides a handy reminder of upcoming council events. Look for more information about each event in future issues of Program News.
Farewell to multiple forms
Rather than juggling different forms to register for several events, use a new, one-fits-all document. You'll find the consolidated individual and troop registration forms online, in resource centers, and linked to each event description in Program News. |
