Archery Workshops
Girl Scout volunteers Fran Styles and Loretta Lynch are offering three-hour beginner and intermediate archery workshops.

Swan Lake Ballet
Girl Scouts are invited to attend a performance of Swan Lake presented by the Ballet Conservatory. Advance show tickets are just $5 for Girl Scouts and their families.

Bridging Workshops
Ambassador Troop 3407 offers workshops where Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts earn and receive the Bridging Rainbow Badge. In addition, Daisies earn a Try-It, Brownies receive a Junior badge, and Juniors work toward an IP badge. Cadettes are welcome to assist at no cost other than the cost of the IP and Bridging Rainbow patches. The event closes with a casual bridging ceremony for those who aren't planning their own event. Ambassador Girl Scouts lead the activities, serving as role models for the younger girls. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and spaces fill quickly. A morning snack is provided; Brownies and Juniors should bring a sack lunch.

Let's Go Surfing!
Eli Howard Surf School offers lessons (learn water safety skills and gain confidence and knowledge of the ocean environment) and beach campouts (with a private surf camp, BBQ and warm breakfast). All surf gear, tents and two meals included. Student to instructor ratio is 3:1.

Jewelry Design and Creation
Professional jewelry artist Denise J. Bonaimo offers a variety of jewelry design classes at Balboa Park's Spanish Village Art Center or your own site. Classes fulfill requirements toward Try-Its (Career) badges (Business Wise, Careers, Hobbies, Art to Wear) and IPs (Folk Arts, Just Jewelry)...or take a class just for fun! Ms. Bonaimo is also available for interviews, speaking events and consultations about business ownership and visual arts careers.

Mad Science offers exciting hands-on 90-minute workshops to help girls explore science! Girl Scout Brownie Try-Its workshop topics include Building Art, Movers, Science Wonders, and Space Explorer. Girl Scout Junior badge workshop topics include Aerospace, Rocks Rock, Science Sleuth, and Water Wonders.

Playful Paws
San Diego Humane Society and SPCA

Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes are invited to practice their leadership and community service skills by participating in the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA's new Girl Scout program - Playful Paws!

Before arriving at the San Diego Humane Society, girls receive an assignment to work together to create behavior enrichment items for adoptable animals. Items may include special toys or activities for pets to play. This will also address community service needs, as well as practice in leadership by working together to decide which items will best serve the society's adoptable animals.

During this 60-minute program, girls interact with an animal, take an Adoption Gallery tour, do age-appropriate activities, and receive a Playful Paws Patch. Program fees help our adoptable animals.

Attention Girl Scout Juniors!
Let your pictures tell your story by spending a Sunday afternoon learning about the art and science of photography. Stacey Foster for Canon will lead the hands-on workshops about how a shutter speed can add life to a photograph, how the "rule of thirds" can add interest and drama, and photography careers.

Participants will take portraits, landscapes, macro (close-up) photos and live action shots. Each participant will print out her images. Each participant will receive a Camera Shots Badge.

Participants must bring their own digital cameras.

San Diego Junior Theatre
Girl Scout Juniors have an opportunity to earn their Theater Badge at the San Diego Junior Theatre's two-hour workshop. Girls learn about theater and character development and explore the vocal and physical aspects of characters. The workshop can also be offered in conjunction with a show. Enjoy a Girl Scout rate of $8 per ticket on the first Saturday of the run of each show.

The San Diego Zoo offers Girl Scouts specialized programs through the education department. These are programs designed with age-appropriate activities that augment the Girl Scott badge work. Every program includes a patch and a privately lead adventure by a professional zoo educator.

Rancho Del Mar Stable
For 35 years Rancho Del Mar, a public riding school and show training stable in Valley Center, has taught students to become competent,
responsible riders and equine caregivers. Through lessons, camps and Girl Scout activities, Rancho Del Mar works with those who love horses and enjoy riding for fun, or are preparing for the show ring. Girl Scouts may fulfill some or all requirements for the Horse Fan and Horse Rider
badges in one afternoon, depending on their wishes.

Community Treasure Chest Program
American Lung Association is partnering with Girl Scouts to gather toys, books, and gifts for children in tuberculosis treatment. During the six-to-nine-month treatment, children can have difficulty staying motivated. By giving a donated item to patients when they return for a check-up, the Lung Association ensures continuous and diligent monitoring of the treatment. Girl Scouts receive a community patch for their efforts.
