Find the kind of insurance coverage you need for your event by using these quick links. Just choose the description that describes your event, click the quick link, and you'll be taken to the type of insurance coverage needed. Please note: Insurance enrollment forms must be submitted at least 10 days prior to the event/activity/trip.
Plan 1 -- Girl Scout Activity Accident Insurance Basic Coverage (automatic with membership, no additional enrollment necessary)
- Basic accident insurance coverage for every registered Girl Scout and registered adult member.
- Provides accident protection only for approved, supervised Girl Scout activities including events lasting two consecutive nights or less.
- Participant accident insurance is secondary insurance. The insured party's family insurance plan is primary. Mutual of Omaha pays the first $130 of an approved claim and will continue (after the family insurance plan has reached its coverage limit) up to a total of $15,000.
- Tag-a-longs are never covered. Tag-a-longs are the responsibility of the parent attending. Any damage/harm caused by the tag-a-long is also the parents' responsibility. Boys and preschoolers attending day camp or encampment events may be insured when part of an organized supervised group.
- Cost is paid by Girl Scouts of the USA; coverage is included with annual membership dues.
Plan 2 -- Participant Accident Insurance — non-member coverage Download Plan 2 Form
- Use for encampments, one-day events or any time non-member adults or girls are participating in a Girl Scout event/program. (She & Me, Thinking Day events, etc.)
- Provides accident insurance for approved, supervised activities/events lasting two nights or less.
- Provides accident insurance for non-member participants in approved, supervised activities/events such as parent work weekends, nursery units at day camp, short-term boy participation, weekend encampments, Mommy and Me events and other such activities at which registered girls and adults would be covered under the basic plan.
- Overnights count as two days (even if less than 24 hours).
- Tag-a-longs are never covered. Tag-a-longs are the responsibility of the parent attending. Any damage/harm caused by the tag-a-long is also the parents' responsibility. Boys and preschoolers attending day camp or encampment events may be insured when part of an organized supervised group.
- Participant accident insurance is secondary insurance. The insured party's family insurance plan is primary. Mutual of Omaha pays the first $130 of an approved claim and will continue (after the family insurance plan has reached its coverage limit) up to a total of $15,000
- $0.11 per participant per day; $5 minimum
- Enrollment forms must be received at least one week prior to the event.
Plan 3P -- Participant Accident and Sickness Insurance for Extended Events Download Plan 3P Form
- Use any time an event is longer than two nights or you are traveling outside of council jurisdiction.
- Provides accident and sickness insurance for approved, supervised activities/events lasting more than two nights.
- All participants must be covered -- registered and non-registered alike.
- Tag-a-longs are never covered. Tag-a-longs are the responsibility of the parent attending. Any damage/harm caused by the tag-a-long is also the parents' responsibility. Boys and preschoolers attending day camp or encampment events may be insured when part of an organized supervised group.
- Participant accident insurance is secondary insurance. The insured party's family insurance plan is primary. Mutual of Omaha pays the first $130 of an approved claim and will continue (after the family insurance plan has reached its coverage limit) up to a total of $15,000
- $0.70 per participant per day; $5 minimum
- Enrollment forms must be received at least one week prior to the event.
Plan 3PI -- Participant Accident and Sickness Insurance for International Trips — please include a roster of all participants, including their age at date of travel. Download Plan 3PI Form
- Provides accident and sickness insurance for approved, supervised international activities/events lasting more than two nights.
- Tag-a-longs are never covered. Tag-a-longs are the responsibility of the parent attending. Any damage/harm caused by the tag-a-long is also the parents' responsibility. Boys and preschoolers attending day camp or encampment events may be insured when part of an organized supervised group.
- Participant accident insurance is secondary insurance. The insured party's family insurance plan is primary. Mutual of Omaha pays the first $130 of an approved claim and will continue (after the family insurance plan has reached it's coverage limit) up to a total of $15,000
- $1.17 per participant per calendar day or portion thereof; $5 minimum
- Enrollment forms must be received at least one week prior to the event.
- All vendors and venues with a current Certificate of Liability are on this list. It is updated the first day of each month.
- If a group is not on the list the troop or group attending event should request the vendor or venue fax a current certificate to Girl Scouts, attn: Mary Mautino (619) 298-2031.
