Thank you for saying "yes"!

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the nation's largest girl-run business, and you are integral to its success.Your encouragement, coaching, and guidance will be key ingredients to a successful experience for girls and volunteers.

Because of you, Girl Scouts all over San Diego and Imperial counties will learn goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. They will take their experiences and earned proceeds to make the world a better place. We truly appreciate all you do to help girls during the cookie season and throughout the year!

Credit card program

All troops participating in the 2014 cookie program have the option to accept credit card payments at booth sales. Troops who choose to accept credit cards must follow the policies and procedures outlined in the Credit Card Handbook

Basic Facts

  • NEW! Troops choosing to accept credit cards may use any mobile payment processing vendor they wish.
    • Girl Scouts San Diego will no longer provide swipers, training or other support if your troop chooses to accept mobile credit card payments.
  • Mobile credit card swipers work the same way any credit card processing system does; your customer gives you a credit card and you swipe the card.  If the sale is authorized, the funds are transmitted electronically from your customer's bank to your troop bank account.
  • Troops are responsible for all fees incurred by their mobile service provider and by the mobile payment processing vendor.
  • It is a business decision each troop must make for themselves; troops should only opt in if they believe they can increase their sales by accepting credit cards.

Please review the Credit card materials for policies, procedures, and details.

Introducing "Isabelle"

The American GirlŽ Doll of the YearŽ

The American GirlŽ Doll of the YearŽ 2014 is one of the many rewards girls can earn by selling 800+ boxes. She was just released on January 1 so she's not pictured on the order card. See Isabelle; learn her story and how she makes the world a better place.

NEW! Troop Booth Sign Reward

Troops that follow their initial order recommendation (page 34) and

place the order by Friday, Jan. 17 will receive one exclusive sign for their cookie booths. Signs will be distributed on delivery day, Feb.1.

All Ages Cookie Rally at the San Diego Zoo

Don't miss out! Tickets are still available for our council-wide Cookie Rally this Sunday, Jan. 12.

Girl Scout members are $12, non-Girl Scout members are $17; to purchase tickets stop by any of our council stores (please check store hours for each location - Balboa, Carlsbad and Escondido) before 1 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets will not be available at the Zoo. Note: Zoological Society membership, military passes, prepaid tickets and/or discount coupons do not apply to this special event.

Cookie contests

Set, Reach ... Matched!

Enter a troop contest for a chance to double your troop's cookie proceeds! One lucky troop of goal achievers, chosen at random, will receive a match of troop proceeds for the 2014 cookie season. That's right: If your troop wins, Girl Scouts San Diego will match your earnings* at your troop's proceed rate! Deadline to enter is Saturday, Feb. 1.

*Maximum match 1,000 boxes.

Mystery House

The first Girl Scout walking about selling cookies to stop by a "Mystery House" during the 2014 cookie program will win the prize - the arctic set with all of Luna's friends!

  • There is at least one secret location in nearly every service unit.
  • The first Girl Scout to visit the Mystery House will be presented a certificate by the host to claim her prize.
    • Girls should not ask customers if they are the Mystery House; the girl will be notified by the host.
    • Girls should leave a door hanger with first name, troop number, and adult contact information.  It will "count" as a visit in case a Mystery House host is not home.

Door hangers are available for download here and preprinted for $3 a pack in council stores.

Cookie Wonderland

A lively interactive video offers a virtual field trip to "the most magical bakery in the world" - Little Brownie Bakers. Set for national release on

Saturday, Jan.11, Girl Scout Cookie Wonderland gives a behind-the-scenes peek at how our cookies are made. Girl Scouts can meet each other, gain new skills, create "Recipe for Success" business plans and learn how to use cookie money to change the world. Get your troop together and let Little Brownie Bakers do the rest. Find details and additional resources online.

FAQs

Q. How do I know how many cases to order for my troop's initial order?

A. We recommend that troops order based on their previous year's sales; the exact recommended amount is listed on the customized letter from your SUCC. New troops: Your SUCC will give you a recommended amount specific to your troop's program grade level and based on troops' average sales from the previous year (page 34).

Q. Can Daisies do booth sales?

A. Yes!

Q. When will I receive the girl order cards?

A. The girl order cards are distributed at cookie delivery on Saturday, Feb. 1 (page 37). The order cards will also become available online on February 2.

Q. Which cookies do not contain nuts?

A. Trefoils and Thin Mints. Samoas are no longer classified as nut-free due to the FDA's reclassification of coconut as a tree nut.

Cookie Program

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the country and generates immeasurable benefits for girls, their councils, and their communities.  Girls set cookie sales goals to support their chosen activities, to fund community service/leadership projects, to attend camp, and to travel.

Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls develop five essential skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
