Summer is the best season to visit the spectacular Montana wilderness. Close to Yellowstone National Park, this area is full of splendor, beautiful mountains, and picturesque valleys, without the high-volume tourist congestion of Jackson and Yellowstone. The terrain is varied, sometimes steep. The Continental Divide Trail runs down the middle of this wilderness. Prerequisite: One advanced backpacking trip of at least 5 days on the trail with a full pack.

At the planning meetings, we will also discuss Yellowstone as an alternate destination. 

MEETING 1-JANUARY 14, 2018: 6-6:30 pm at Balboa campus for parents and those interested in the trip  Q&A about the trip. 
6:30-9:30 registered  girls and adults will begin planning to decide actual trip dates, which hike to prepare for, identify risks and expectations, budget expected to be approx. $800 for Bob Marshall, $1100 for Yellowstone
MEETING 2-MARCH 11: - receive basic trip outline and decide on daily itinerary, decide on when/where to fly, how long trip will be, if time for historic sites or side trips, preliminary budget. purchase airline ticket by next meeting. 
MEETING 3 APRIL 15 3PM-6PM deadline for open registration. Meet to discuss detailed daily itinerary, equipment needs, reservations needed
MEETING4 – MAY 20 3pm-5pm April 15 finalize all reservations, permits, and trip itinerary, equipment needs.
MEETING 5-JULY 9-15 7pm-9pm TBD Pack check 

Cancellation Policy: Refund and transfer requests must be submitted in writing prior to the registration deadline listed on the activity. No refunds or transfers will be issued after the registration deadline has passed unless the event is cancelled by council staff.
