|San Jacinto, the second highest peak in Southern California, is a beautiful place for a beginning backpacking trip. Take what you learn in the classroom, and the new friends you’ll make on the pre-trip day hike, to a fun and inspiring location where you can practice and share your new skills. This is a high altitude trip; you’ll camp at 8,000 feet, just 2 miles from the trailhead, so you can get acclimated for the next day’s hike to the peak of San Jacinto. Attendance is required for the entire class, training hike, trip meeting, pack check and backpacking trip. You’ll earn the Basic Backpacking patch.|
