Make the world a better place through theatre! During this collaboration between Girl Scouts San Diego and The La Jolla Playhouse, spend three weeks practicing improv games, learning theatre exercises and developing leadership skills with teaching artists from the Playhouse.

This year, girls will explore the concept of theatre for social change. The ensemble will utilize various performance techniques to develop an understanding of social justice topics such as gender inequality, media bias and others. Each week, the group will take a field trip to the Playhouse to work with students in the Young Performers’ Workshop. During the program they'll consider the everyday choices they make and connect with peers about how to make greater social change through theatre.

This three-week program includes weekly trips to the La Jolla Playhouse, theatre workshops and activities, and a final showcase put together entirely by girls.

Empowerment Theatre is funded through a generous grant from the Favrot Family, which covers all the costs associated with participating in the program.
