Endowments and Planned Gifts
Keep Girl Scout traditions alive for generations to come
Imagine providing a gift to all girls, for all time ... one that promises a brighter future for generations of local Girl Scouts. A gift that shapes tomorrow's leaders and safeguards traditions that brought joy and inspiration.
As a member of our Juliette Gordon Low Society you can do all of this and more.
The Juliette Gordon Low Society honors friends who have included Girl Scouts in their estate plans by naming Girl Scouts San Diego in their wills or other life-income gifts. Members enjoy select social gatherings and events. They are recognized in our annual report, on our donor wall and receive a special "thank you" memento.
Planned gifts like bequests, living trusts and other life income gifts allow anyone to make donations as part of their financial or estate planning. Planned gifts provide critical long-term support for our council, ensuring future generations of girls will experience the fun, education, and leadership skills only available through Girl Scouting.
Planned gifts may also provide:
- Tax advantages
- Reduced estate taxes and capital gains
- Increased cash flow
What is a planned gift?
Planned giving is a way of supporting non-profits and charities that allows philanthropic individuals to donate more than they could given their current income or financial situation. Some planned gifts offer the donor a life-long income. Others use estate and tax planning techniques to maximize the gift and minimize its impact on the donor's estate. Most result in significant tax benefits.
Planned gifts can include bequests through wills or living trusts, charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities. You can also name our council as a full or partial beneficiary to a life insurance policy or retirement account. Our council can also help plan for gifts of real estate, personal property and securities.
Please contact us to learn about other planned giving options. We will work with your attorney or tax adviser and create a plan that suits your personal circumstances.
