The high ropes course at Camp Whispering Oaks in Julian lets girls test their courage and build confidence in a safe, supportive environment. As girls tackle the course, they cheer on their friends and receive the support of their team. They'll challenge themselves with team-focused games, complete problem solving initiatives and attempt low and high elements, all under the leadership of certified staff. Current 4th graders (Girl Scout Juniors) and older are eligible to participate.
Answers to frequently asked questions:
What is the High Ropes Challenge Course?
The course is made up of several distinct elements involving cables, logs, platforms, ropes and other objects. Each high ropes session is tailored to the needs of the group participating; however, all sessions are designed with close attention to progression. The course offers participants the chance to share individual successes and setbacks with a supportive team, building self-esteem and group skills along the way.
Who can participate?
Current 4th graders (Juniors) and older can participate. Some advanced elements are reserved for 6th grade (Cadettes) and up.
If you have a mixed-age group, activities will be tailored to the level of the youngest participants. For example, if a troop has mostly Cadettes and one Girl Scout Junior, they will participate at a level appropriate for the Junior. Facilitators will not schedule groups for activities that are not age-appropriate for everyone participating.
