Flu Safety
Girl Scouts, San Diego-Imperial Council is closely monitoring the H1N1 flu situation.

To ensure girl safety, we have asked leaders, volunteers and staff to take these precautions, based on guidelines established by the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency and the national Center for Disease Control:
- Instruct parents/guardians to keep girls at home if they show flu-like symptoms or have recently had the flu.
- Educate girls about staying healthy (e.g., avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth; use tissues and immediately throw them away; sneeze or cough into elbow rather than into hand).
- Ensure girls wash their hands frequently, especially before snacks or meals.
- Make anti-bacterial hand sanitizer widely available, including in each unit and bathroom at camping events.
- Stay updated on the signs of flu symptoms.
- If a girl exhibits flu-like symptoms, contact her parent immediately and send her home. Until a parent arrives, keep her isolated from other girls.
- Visit the Center for Disease Control website for more information.
