Adult members, get ready for the upcoming membership year with classes in troop leadership, outdoor education, First Aid and safety. Check out the May-Sept. 2013 training catalog for opportunities to develop new skills and insights. All classes are $5 unless otherwise indicated.

Kayak the Seven Caves and earn a BCU Paddlesport Start Certificate!
Girl Scout activities at San Diego Bike & Kayak Tours include the British Canoe Union Paddlespot Start Certificate program. Girls age seven and up: Take an introductory ocean kayaking lesson, where you’ll learn paddling techniques, ocean awareness and equipment safety. Then head out on an adventurous tour through the Seven Caves in La Jolla, keeping an eye open for a variety of marine animals. Cost: $20 plus fees. Celebrando conference features teen artist Inocente
El Latino invites Spanish-speaking women and teens to Celebrando, its annual Latina empowerment conference, on Saturday, June 8, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Meet Inocente, the formerly homeless teenage girl who was the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary in 2012. Plus, learn about important health and wellness issues while enjoying a luncheon, speakers, medical screenings, musical performances and workshops — all in Spanish. Teen activities include a session about positive self-image and healthy relationships, led by Girl Scouts San Diego. Cost: $45; financial assistance available. Girls in grade 4-8: For a healthy and fun way to kick off the summer, join Girls On Target's free yoga practice at Seagrove Park in Del Mar on Saturday, June 8, 9-10 a.m. Learn yoga positions while overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Capture your world
Learn how to preserve a moment in history at a beginning photography workshop for Seniors-Ambassadors. Attend four Tuesday and Thursday morning sessions at our Escondido Program Center and North Coastal Service Center (NCSC), then share your pictures at the Girl Art Show on Tuesday, July 9, 6-8 p.m. at NCSC. Aspiring actresses: Teach and learn
We’re partnering with the Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse to offer Empowerment Theatre, just for girls in grades 8-12. Master acting techniques with accomplished teachers, then step into the spotlight to share your skills with students in the La Jolla Playhouse’s Young Performers programs. Chaperones needed for Night at the Museum
Adults: Join us for dancing, movies, pizza, crafts and games at Girl Scouts’ Night at the Museum sleepover, Friday, June 7, 4:30 p.m.-Saturday, June 8, 9 a.m. at the San Diego Air and Space Museum. Help make a special memory for the girls who earned this event by selling 525 or more boxes of Girl Scout cookies. Chaperone responsibilities include caring for the girls’ emotional and physical well-being. Volunteers with a girl in attendance will be assigned to a separate group.
